Many Dutch children’s favorite dish is pancakes. For adults it is also a nice dish, because it is very easy to make. We eat pancakes for dinner.
As with any national dish, everyone’s recipe is different. But my own recipe is the best, so that is the one I give to you.
Ingredients for one person
- Flour, 1.2 mugs
- Soy milk, one mug
- Apple sauce, one spoon
- A bit of salt
Put the ingredients in a bowl and whip it into a batter. Now heat up your frying pan, put some oil in it. Pour a ladle of batter into your pan, tilt the pan to spread out the batter, and wait until the top of the pancake is (almost) dry.
Now flip the pancake upside down. If you want to show off, you can do this without a spatula.
After a bit more baking, put the pancake on a plate to eat it.
Although we eat pancakes for dinner, most classic toppings are sweet. Some classic things to put on your pancake are:
- powdered sugar
- slices of strawberry and sugar
My father always told me, no matter how skilled you are at baking pancakes, the first one will fail every time. So keep practicing, and may your second pancakes be a succes.
